Albanian Alps
Theth 75 km
The mountains above Skadar are called Albanian Alps, after the name of the national park (Alpet e Shqipërisë), which covers about 830 km2. For comparison, our Krkonoše Mountains have 363 km2.
This is a corner of unspoilt nature, of which there are few left in Europe. The mountains offer a wealth of excursions. You can reach the viewpoint of the surrounding mountains after a 60 km journey (about 1:45 h).

The mountains here are about 2000 m high. But at Valbona, the height of the mountains approaches High Tatras.
5 things not to miss in the Albanian Alps
- The classic transition from Thethu into the valley Valbony
- A trip from Thethu past gorges and waterfalls to the Blue Eye Lake
- Waterfalls (e.g. Grunas near Thetu)
- Neglected region Kelmend and the settlement of Lepusha
- Ferry trip across the lake Coman
- A deserted region around a semi-deserted village Curraj and Epërm

WHAT ARE THE GUESTS SAYING ABOUT US?
Vlasta
We were surprised by very friendly and relaxed people, you can speak English everywhere, you can eat well and cheaply. Shkodra is also a historical city of many cultures. It is a pleasure to discover both natural and cultural beauties. For us, a unique European exotic that is also within easy reach of both cars and planes. The new apartment is close to the center, great living and amenities. We appreciated the air conditioning in the summer. We will be back here again in a year. Northern and maybe all of Albania simply shatters all myths and prejudices.
Peter
Beautifully furnished apartment, which is also suitable for a family with children. Location in the city center. Ideal "base" for exploring northern Albania. Martin and Eva have lots of great tips for trips around the area.
Adela
Albania impressed me with its affordable prices of services and food. For example, I was in the gym, where the entrance for the whole day cost 60 CZK. The Albanians are very nice and helpful, you can speak English with them and most of all they want to talk.
The most popular delicacy for me was fish and various vegetable salads. The best experience in the summer was swimming in a completely clean river that flowed right out of the mountains. And also visiting the majestic castle above Shkodra and the confluence of 2 big rivers.

Shkodar is an emerging city with bomb services and food. The proximity to the sights of the mountains and the sea is the reason I keep coming back.

Shkodër is a very rich place for seafood, but you can enjoy it in every restaurant. The biggest lake is nearby, and the sea is also nearby, so the fish is always fresh and there is a great choice. The people are helpful, kind and always accommodating. The main square is filled with ancient cobblestones with lots of shops, restaurants (but also pizzerias) and fantastic pastry shops. Everything is close to the apartment and what more could you want? There are also mountains and other lakes nearby, it's impossible not to visit everything. Moreover, the prices are very low... You can afford this holiday.
